A book judged by its COVER

The dog that we now recognize as the pit bull was originally bred in Britain in the early 1800's to 'bait' bulls. Bait matches were held for the entertainment of the struggling classes, serving as a source of relief from the tedious and brutal way of life suffered by many commoners during that time. In 1835 bull baiting was deemed inhumane and became illegal, and dog fighting became a popular replacement.

The best fighters were celebrated and revered as heroes for their courage and fortitude during battle. At the same time a very strong bite inhibition towards humans was encouraged through selective breeding so that handlers could lean into the fighting pits and pull their battling dogs apart without worrying about receiving a redirected bite. Partially because of this breeding effort, which culled out "man biters", pit bulls became well known for their loving devotion and trustworthy nature with humans.

The breeding history of Pit Bulls makes it impossible to rule out a violent propensity for any one dog as gameness and aggressiveness can be hidden for years. Given the Pit Bull's genetically physical strengths and abilities, a Pit Bull always poses the possibility of danger; given the Pit Bull's breeding history as a fighting dog and the latency of its aggressiveness and gameness, the Pit Bull poses a danger distinct from other breeds of dogs which do not so uniformly share those traits.

To me this is a very popular breed and rarely attacks. Pit Bulls are very powerful animals, so when something does go wrong, it usually makes the news. Almost all Pit Bull attacks have involved unaltered Pit Bulls, so it is very important to have your Pit Bull spayed or neutered as soon as possible. Additionally, serious Pit Bull attacks rarely involve spayed/neutered Pit Bulls who have received proper training and socialization.

(12) POLICE DOG

The German Shepherd Dog is hailed as the world's leading police, guard and military dog, however, this dependable breed is more than its 9-to-5 job. Consistently one of the United States most popular breeds according to AKC® Registration Statistics, the German Shepherd Dog is also a loving family companion, herder and show competitor. The breed is approachable, direct and fearless, with a strong, muscular body. The GSD may be most colors, but most commonly is black and tan.

Often used as working dogs, German Shepherds are courageous, keen, alert and fearless. Cheerful, obedient and eager to learn. Tranquil, confident, serious and clever. GSDs are extremely faithful, and brave. They will not think twice about giving their lives for their human pack. They have a high learning ability. German Shepherds love to be close to their families, but can be wary of strangers. This breed needs his people and should not be left isolated for long periods of time. They only bark when they feel it is necessary.

Often used as police dogs, the German Shepherd has a very strong protective instinct, and is extremely loyal to its handler. Socialize this breed well starting at puppyhood. Aggression and attacks on people are due to poor handling and training. Problems arise when an owner allows the dog to believe he is pack leader over humans and/or does not give the dog the daily exercise it needs to be stable.

Presa Canario (BIG MAN ON CAMPUS)

The Presa Canario has a powerful, square head that is nearly as wide as it is long. The muzzle is broad. The chest is deep and broad. The rump is slightly raised. This breed has thick skin, dense bones, powerful muscles and a massive head with a large jaw. The ears are usually cropped. Colors include fawn and various brindles; white markings are sometimes seen.

My uncle breed Cane Corso’s but also had a lot experience with this breed. This breed isn’t much different from the Cane Corso I like had its ears cut ear look, especially when they are in protect mode and their ear and tail are pointed up. The dogs are very loyal and OVER protective, if you need something to protect the house this dog is your perfect choice.

This dog is large, powerful, intelligent, and headstrong. The breed standard says he should be calm, attentive and self-confident, obedient, and docile with family members and suspicious of strangers. But dogs don’t come ready-made with those qualities. A Presa Canario needs a leader who can develop and manage those characteristics by guiding the dog with firmness and consistency and without using force or cruelty.

One day I will have all the big dogs that I like. When I turn 18 and go to college I want to be able to have dogs and get me a Presa Canario, these dogs are a symbol of strength. When I take my dogs on walks I know that people will look at me twice.

THE GERMAN MASTIFF (GREAT DANE)

The Great Dane is a giant, powerful dog. Square in body, but females may be slightly longer than tall. The long head is rectangular in shape. The muzzle is deep, with a pronounced stop. The nose is black, blue/black on blue Danes or black spotted on the harlequins. The dark, deep-set eyes are medium in size. The medium sized ears are set high and either cropped or left natural. If left in their natural state they are folded forward, hanging close to the cheek. When cropped they stand erect and are large in proportion to the rest of the head. Note: cropping ears is illegal in most parts of Europe. The well arched neck is set high, firm and muscular. The front legs are perfectly straight. The feet are round with dark toenails. The tail is set high, thicker at the base and tapering to a point. Dewclaws are sometimes removed. The coat is short and thick. Colors come in brindle, fawn, black, blue, mantle harlequin.

Me personally I have never owned a dog/ Great Dane. These Great Danes are very beautiful strong, smart dogs. One day I hope to own my own and adventure these dogs’ lives and watch them grow. Today I just wanted to educate my blog readers about the Great Dane Dog Breed. To influence their beauty and good nature.
